In March of 2016, the AIA New York chapter hosted a panel event entitled “Architects and Developers in Conversation.” The panel included Architect & Developer Peter Guthrie of DDG. Peter has some great quotes in here about the value of design and the hustle involved in being an Architect & Developer. See more about Peter Guthrie, including my interview with him, {here}.

The “Architects in Conversation” series explores in an informal format topics that expand the dialogue between architects, designers and our peers in the built environment. Panelists will interact with one another and audience members in moderated panel discussions to describe their point of view on current events, industry trends, and the next big ideas informing our industry through the lens of personal experience.

The first program will be “Architects and Developers in Conversation.” Here, colleagues from New York’s real estate development community will discuss what it is like to work with design teams, their experiences both positive and negative, and the evolution – and future – of New York’s booming development, from Sugar Hill to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Speakers:
Ellen Baxter, Founder and Executive Director, Broadway Housing Communities
Clare Newman, Chief of Staff and Executive Vice President, Brooklyn Navy Yard
Sam Charney, Principal, Charney Construction and Development
Andrew Kimball, Chief Executive Officer, Industry City
Peter Guthrie, Chief Creative Officer, Head of Design & Construction, DDG Partners

Moderator: Kyle Fisher, Associate Principal, Arup

Organized by: AIANY Marketing and Communications Committee
