Emerging Professionals: The Power of Design – Architect & Developer

Emerging Professionals: The Power of Design

AIA Emerging Professionals Exhibit | Emerging Professionals Exhibit | James Petty | Architect & Developer | Architect and Developer | architectasdeveloper

I am excited to announce that the AIA has selected the book Architect & Developer: A Guide to Self-Initiating Projects to be part of the Emerging Professionals Exhibit 2018: The Power of Design. The exhibit shows architectural work, design, and art from the rising generation of architecture and design professionals. The selection is from students, recent graduates, and architects licensed less than ten years. See other entries from the 2018 Emerging Professionals Exhibit at aia.org. See more information about the book, Architect & Developer, {here}.

Project description:

The book “Architect & Developer: A Guide to Self-Initiating Projects” serves as a conduit for spreading the information gathered while studying the cross between the roles of the architect and the developer. The book includes one-on-one interviews with architects and sold over 500 copies in the first six months.

Architects have long been charged with creating a better-built environment, but it is the developers who dictate what is actually built in our cities. By combining architect and developer, architects can command a greater sense of control, faster decision-making, an effcient process, and the potential for a much better profit.

From the AIA:

We believe in the power of design to make the world a better place. And we witness this through an inspiring, creative, and fresh lens in our annual Emerging Professionals Exhibit.

The jurors for the 2018 exhibit were Melissa Carter, Assoc. AIA, Sara Bartumeus, and Mark Kranz, FAIA.
